Garment Care
Taking Care of Your Custom Suits or Shirts
Proper care for your ERIC ADLER garments can drastically increase the life of your custom suits, shirts, or accessories.
Suits
When it comes to suits, we recommend dry cleaning once or twice per season if you wear your suit weekly. If you wear your suit more infrequently, we recommend dry cleaning only if there are odors or stains. Remember that moths are hungry for the food on the cloth, not the cloth itself. Never machine wash your suit.
Shirts
Regarding shirts, we recommend machine washing them cold and hanging them to dry. Once dry, iron your shirt on the proper cotton or linen setting. (A tag on the left side seam will indicate your shirt’s fiber makeup.)
Dry Cleaning
Many dry cleaners use harsh chemicals that will cause the natural fibers of your shirt to wear out over time. The same is true of other treatments like starch, so if you prefer to use it, use starch sparingly.
We understand that dry cleaning is a much more convenient method to launder your clothes, but you may want to consider home care for your clothing as an alternative to dry cleaning.
