Sustainable Fashion

Our Sustainable Fashion Mission Statement:

We genuinely believe that the fashion industry’s collective efforts can reduce the trajectory of global climate change. Our goal at ERIC ADLER is to reduce waste, reuse &, recycle as much as possible, and rethink how we make clothing to promote a greener fashion industry. We aspire to be a leader in the local community as well as a pioneer of sustainable practices around the nation and globe.

Our Sustainable Fashion Pledge:

Green Design- We understand that the majority of product packaging ends ups in the trash. Therefore, we provide minimal packaging with our finished products. We will also reuse dead stock fabric for packaging.

Environmentalism – We strive to lower workshop utility usage by moderating our heating and air conditioning use. We also encourage our clients to use chemical-free dry cleaning processes when laundering their garments. Additionally, our garments come with high-quality sustainable wooden hangers for storage.

Green Technology – By using Design CAD software, we will reduce paper and fabric waste used to create patterns and samples. In the future, we aim to use electric vehicles for local and domestic transportation.

Sustainable Design – Sometimes when planning for the future, it is worthwhile to take a look at the past. For centuries, tailors have made clothing from scratch intended to be worn often and for a long time. When we create new clothing, we want to use renewable materials and construction processes that will last a lifetime.

Renewable Materials – Utilize natural fibers in our garments like cotton, hemp, wool, mohair, cashmere, and even vicuña. We also use less known natural fibers like acetate, Tencel, and are excited to incorporate animal hyde substitutes like mushroom leather.

Recycling Program- We strive to reuse every piece of fabric, plastic, and cardboard, if possible. We reuse every plastic hanger that we encounter with future clothing.

We will measure the success of our Sustainable Fashion Pledge on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. In 2019, as a part of Nashville Design Week, we were challeneged to take a look at our practices and consider ways we can make more sustainable fashion. We encourage you to challenge yourself, your friends, and your family to take a look at some ways that you can make a difference.
